A Forsyth (Farmwork) Ltd was first formed in 1961 by Anthony Forsyth as a farm contracting business carrying out farming operations in which many of those were highly specialised and ground breaking for their day.
In the early ‘70s the company pioneered direct drilling and minimum tillage operations winning the ICI direct drilling award in 1975. During the 70's the business expanded to include contract-farming agreements. At this time it also trialled aerial crop spraying and fertilizer applications, and in the early ‘80s started to use American pivot steered high horse powered tractors; this great increase in horsepower improved efficiency and productivity.
The family farm hosted the ‘Cereals’ event in 1981, was a LINK farm for cultivations and had its own fungicide and herbicide trail plots in conjunction with ADAS. A. Forsyth was one of the founder members of the Cotswold Cereal Centre, which later became TAG (The Arable Group).
